ISOTEKET… Finally open!

Isoteket opened last friday and a proud me tasted an exquisite blackberry-lime / lemon-poppy seeds organic ice cream. Delicious!

There were plenty of people checking out Jeppe’s original and creative recipes and as far as I could hear the crowd was delighted (see below)

Inauguration / Indvielse

As part of a campaign to create a greener Sydhavn, where trees, flowers and life gets more space a new respite area was permanently erected on the tip of Sydhavns main street, Borgbjergsvej.

Local residents, cyclists, curious by-passers … Many came by last Friday and drank a glass of cava on the occasion of the pocket park opening.

Thanks to all who helped along the way on this project. Thanks to James and Nabil who struck the final nails just a few minutes before the official inauguration!

Lokale beboere, cyklister, nysgerrige, forbipasserende…

Pocket park project launched

Pocket_Park_seen_from_BorgbjergsvejIn the spring of 2011 the studio was contracted by “Sammen om Sydhavnen” to create a distinctive gate to Borgbjergsvej.

Borgbjergsvej 1 is the entrance to the old Sydhavn. The lot on which the project will be erected is located at the corner of two busy roads and though the place today marks the beginning of Borgbjergsvej as Sydhavn’s sole shopping stroll, there are no indications of any social public space.

Our intervention focuses on / aim to:

– creating a visually attractive gate to the neighborhood

– creating opportunities for meetings and stay in the urban space

Taken into consideration these 2 concerns lead to the design of a ‘pocket park’ – a small green area in the middle of town. The luscious vegetation of the square meeting both the æsthetics and the social criteria, while being environmentally friendly and a kind of buffer zone between the heavy traffic of the Sydhavnsgade/Enghavevej junction and the more peaceful pace experienced along Borgbjergsvej.

The “pocket park” consists of a combination of wooden benches and sculptural boxes, each containing a fruit tree.

The boxes were conceived so that they would be both conspicuous from afar and appealing to the public, thus being a new focal point at this strategic location.

The project is set to start medio march 2012.
