In 2007/2008 the studio was commissioned by 2+1 Ideas Agency to take part in the revamping of Copenhagen City Hall’s old Hovedkasse – a hybrid treasury cash room designed by architect Martin Nyrop in 1905, where citizens would come to either pay their state issued bills or store their private valuables.
Hand in hand with multi-talent designer Jesper Sønderaas we developed the concept for the refurbishment of Hovedkassen. Today a state-of-the-art conference room with pioneer features. We stood primarily for both the implementation and the coordination on site as well as the creation of bespoke design pieces (partition walls, reception desk, cabinets…)
Our aim was to ensure the inscription of Hovedkassen in a line of emblematic rooms housed in the City Hall. Magistratsalen, Rådhushallen, Bryllupssalen, Festsalen… to name but a few.
Hovekassen was inaugurated in the fall of 2008 by former Mayor of Copenhagen Ritt Bjerregaard.
Making things happen… A long process
As it looks today!
